On August 2, CBA Alberta and the Alberta Child & Youth Law Sections sent a letter to Premier Danielle Smith and other provincial government and opposition representatives, calling on the government to create a detailed action plan to implement the obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

CBA Alberta calls on parties to make justice issues a priority this provincial election

A sustainable and accessible justice system as an important priority for Albertans according to public opinion research undertaken by Nanos Research on behalf of CBA Alberta. CBA Alberta is calling on all political parties in the provincial election to commit to increasing resources for the justice system. The justice system has been systemically underfunded by successive governments, and while recent investments are welcome, there is still more to be done.

Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week was established in 1951 by the Canadian Mental Health Association. It is observed annually during the first full week of May. This year, Mental Health Week is May 1 – May 7, 2023.
