This Section provides a forum for lawyers who practice in the area of Aboriginal law, representing First Nations, industry, regulatory bodies and governments, including Aboriginal governments. Our focus is on current issues in this dynamic practice area. Consultation and accommodation, governance, treaty rights, Aboriginal rights, specific claims, First Nations business structures, resource development and trusts are among the topics to be examined by this Section. Legislation and policies specific to Aboriginal peoples will also be examined.
This Section invites other Alberta Branch Sections to take part in joint meetings on selected areas of law that intersect with Aboriginal law. Law students, academics and judges are also invited to provide information on significant developments in Aboriginal law.
Join this Section and participate in the experience and practice of Aboriginal law.
