The CPHR Alberta Board of Directors value inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility, and supports the election and appointment of diverse candidates to the Board. The Board believes that having a diverse Board contributes to a balanced and effective Board – one that is well-positioned to address the changing needs of the organization and our membership.
We are looking for directors who are willing to share their time, talent, and expertise, and be actively involved in shaping the future and long-term success of CPHR Alberta. We are seeking two (2) Chartered Members of CPHR Alberta that have, or are willing to make, connections in the community that will assist the Board's linkage to stakeholders, and up to two (2) public members with specific expertise noted below.
To complement the existing Board of Directors, we are specifically looking for candidates that are board ready and have experience and/or expertise in the following areas:
- Strategic business leadership experience;
- Financial acumen and financial management expertise;
- Legal expertise; and/or
- Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility experience within an Indigenous lens
In addition to the above competencies, candidates from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and those outside of Edmonton and Calgary are highly encouraged to apply.
YOUR TIME COMMITMENTS:
As part of your commitment as a CPHR Alberta Board member, you will attend five (5) Board meetings each year, including an annual Board retreat. Board meetings are typically scheduled on a weekend. You will participate on one to two Board committees, with committee meetings held during the work week. You will also participate in special Board initiatives, as required, scheduling determined by each committee. As a representative of our members, and in keeping with our “Member’s First” strategic philosophy, you will stay connected to members to ensure their interests and voice are represented at the Board table. You will also be expected to help represent the Board at community events throughout the year.
THE PROCESS
CPHR Chartered Members can start the application process by completing the application form within your member portal login.
Public members can start the application process by connecting with Heather McMaster via email at hmcmaster@cphrab.ca, where you will receive the application package and checklist of items required.
All eligible applicants will receive a pre-screen phone interview to ensure a comprehensive understanding of background, experience, and motivation to join the CPHR Alberta Board of Directors. The top candidates will undergo an additional in-depth interview.
For Chartered Members a final slate of the most qualified CPHR candidates will be presented to members for their vote.
For Public Members, the Board of Directors approve the appointment and will notify membership once determined.
