Join the CBA National Board of Directors

Interested in ensuring the necessary resources for CBA Branches and National to provide services and programs to members? Looking to leverage your CBA Alberta knowledge at the national level?

The CBA Alberta Board of Directors will select the next CBA National Board member from Alberta to serve a two-year term from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2027. The job of the National Board is to ensure the necessary resources for CBA, CCCA and Branches and provide oversight of the work of the National Office. 

The ideal Board member:

  • Understands CBA Alberta member services and programs, policy and advocacy
  • Can get up to speed quickly on what member services and programs, policy and advocacy are delivered in other Branches and through CBA National
  • Can advocate for change
  • Has experience with association governance
  • Is a member in good standing of CBA and Law Society of Alberta

The National Board meets six times per year, including two-in-person meetings. Board members are also expected to serve on a Board committee and attend up to two Leadership Forum or inter-Branch meetings (may be virtual). The time commitment involved is approximately 100-150 hours per year. 

The Board member from Alberta liaises with the CBA Alberta Board and Executive Director as appropriate to:

  1. ensure that the CBA National Board is aware of CBA Alberta priorities and initiatives, particularly those which may be impacted by CBA National priorities and initiatives
  2. keep the CBA Alberta Board up-to-date on CBA National initiatives
