The CBA Alberta offices will be closed on Friday, September 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. We will return to regular business hours on Monday, October 3.
The CBA is committed to responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and to participating in our own journey of reconciliation as an association.
Nationally, the CBA offers educational resources to increase awareness of the legacy of the Indian Residential School System and cultural competency as it relates to the Indigenous community, and supports anti-racism/bias training for the legal community and CBA staff. In Alberta, we continue to provide professional development through our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and Leadership Forum webinar series related to reconciliation. Together, we are working towards removing barriers to Indigenous participation in the CBA and building authentic relationships with the Indigenous communities on whose land we live, work and play.
Our work in understanding and acknowledging reconciliation is an ongoing process. On this second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we encourage all members to engage in your own acts of reconciliation through participating in a local event, taking time to learn about the culture of the Indigenous communities who share this land, or reflecting on other ways you can support reconciliation.
