The Canadian Bar Association represents 40,000 lawyers, judges, notaries, academics and students across Canada, including 5,500 here in Alberta. We connect our members to the people, knowledge and skills they need to successfully practice law.

The Canadian Bar Association is the essential ally and advocate of the legal profession and guardian of the rule of law in Canada. Our members are passionate about their association and the good it brings to their lives and to the world. Staff and volunteers are inspired to exceed members’ expectations every day.

How We Work

The Canadian Bar Association - Alberta Branch is dedicated to enhancing the professional and commercial interests of our diverse members through professional development, mentorship programs, advocacy and professional initiatives.

CBA Alberta is governed by our branch bylaws and policies along with the bylaws of the CBA. Led by our President and Executive Committee, our Board of Directors is made up of 13 member responsible for advancing the work of the Branch. They ensure the necessary resources for branch operations, and oversee the outcomes of our advocacy, programs, and activities. Our Executive Director leads CBA Alberta operations and manages our team so we can support and serve our members.

Our national association is governed by a President, supported by a National Board of Directors which represents the diversity of Canada's legal profession, including practice types, experience, skills, geography and more.
