There are more seniors than children in Canada, and the fastest-growing population since 2011 is centenarians. By 2031, Statistics Canada predicts that nearly one in four Canadians will be over 65. The Elder Law Section focuses on issues relating to these elder members of the community.
Such issues include competency, guardianship and trusteeship, estates and planning, pensions, health and protection, housing and real estate, grandparents’ rights, mandatory retirement, solicitor-client privilege and dementia, adult interdependent relationships and late marriages, and more.
