Biography
Nancy Flatters was appointed a Justice, Alberta Court of Justice, July 1996 and sat in Calgary Family and Youth Court until her retirement in November 2015. Prior, Nancy was a Lawyer, Mediator, and Mediation/ADR Trainer and Educator. On retirement, she returned to Private Practice as: an High Conflict Impartial Evaluator (areas: Family; Elder; Guardianship; Workplace Matters); Volunteer Mentor; and continuing with her Training & Education Programs. These are in diverse areas of: Mediation (Civil, Family, Workplace, Policing, Human Rights, among other areas); Generic & Family Arbitration; Child Advocacy; Judicial Dispute Resolution & Settlement Conferencing (JDR); Mentoring; Restorative Justice Integration; Family/Domestic/ IPV/ Workplace Violence; Early Brain & Biological Development & Toxic Stress Impacts in Children 0 - 5 Years; Access to Problem-Solving Justice/System Design; amongst other Programs. Nancy is an Active Pro-bono Member of the Law Society of Alberta. She brings some 48 years of experience to her Practice, Training & Education Programs, and Mentorship. Nancy has a long history of volunteer leadership work in local, provincial, national and international organizations, and continues her commitment to build bridges in all aspects of her work as a Practitioner, Trainer, Educator, Mentor, and Volunteer.Member at Large
