The Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch joins members of the legal profession, the judiciary, and the broader community in mourning the passing of the Honourable Chief Justice of Alberta Ritu Khullar.
Chief Justice Khullar’s career reflected the very best of public service, professional excellence, and dedication to the rule of law. From her early interest in how society and our country operate, to her distinguished work in constitutional, human rights, labour and employment, privacy, and administrative law, she brought intelligence, curiosity, humility, and purpose to every role she held.
CBA Alberta also remembers Chief Justice Khullar as a valued member of our Association and as someone who understood the importance of connection within the profession. Her own volunteer service with the CBA reflected that belief in collegiality and community. Throughout much of her career she was an active leader in our Sections, and a mentor to many within the CBA.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her many friends and family at this time.
