When Lawyers Become Parents: Exploring Inclusive and Effective Workplace Supports for Parents Working in Law (Phase 1: Mothers and gender-diverse parents)
CBA Alberta is undertaking a major research initiative in partnership with the Reimagining Care/Work Policies project, Brock University, and Mount Royal University examining the experiences of lawyers who become parents.
We are inviting mothers and gender-diverse lawyers/parents in Alberta who have welcomed a child within the past three years to participate in this study. The research aims to better understand how parenthood is experienced in the legal profession and to identify best practices for how workplaces can more effectively support lawyer-parents.
Findings will help inform policy development and improve equity, retention, and wellbeing across the profession in Alberta and beyond.
The study is led by Dr. Rachael Pettigrew (Mount Royal University), Dr. Andrea Doucet (Brock University), and Dr. Natasha Stecy-Hildebrandt (Brock University).
We are seeking a broad and diverse range of participants across practice settings, identities, and lived experiences, including individuals from diverse communities and backgrounds.
