The Role
We are seeking an organized, hardworking, and motivated Junior Associate with experience in civil litigation to join our team. The successful candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who values continuous self-improvement and long-term commitment. Experience in residential real estate and an existing client base are assets but are not required. Willingness to work in a small, dynamic, and family-oriented law firm is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support senior litigator with busy civil litigation practice.
- Provide representation in civil litigation matters from file intake to matter closure.
- Conduct legal research and draft documents, including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
- Prepare for and attend court proceedings, mediations, and cross-examinations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with senior partners to strategize and manage ongoing cases.
- Effectively track and manage deadlines on each case.
- Stay informed about changes in civil litigation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a practicing civil litigation lawyer in Alberta.
- In good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Court for Civil Proceedings.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and time management.
- Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
- Eagerness to be mentored and continuously learn.
