We do this by building upon the solid foundation of service we have established in our 23 years providing free legal information, advice, and representation.

What you will do
We are pleased to announce that we have 2 openings for civil law staff lawyers to join our organization on a full-time contract basis. The contract's duration will be at least 30 months with the possibility of extension.

Duties include conducting summary legal advice clinics, providing follow-up legal advice, and representation in all areas of civil law including but not limited to, housing and tenancy, employment, human rights, civil claims and surrogacy matters.

The successful applicant will join a civil law staff team comprised of two other staff lawyers, a legal assistant, and students-at-law.

Our staff lawyers have opportunities throughout the year to supervise and mentor law student volunteers, summer students, and clinical students, contributing to a dynamic learning environment.

Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be an active member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta and will have 1-5 years of experience in civil law with preference given to candidates with proficiency in housing and tenancy law. Previous experience volunteering or working with the ECLC or background working with diverse client groups is a definite asset.

What we offer

Our normal workday is 8:30 – 4:30 Monday to Friday, with the option of occasionally working from home on a flexible schedule.
